Why One-on-One?
One-on-One tutoring is non-existent in most production schools, even though it is extremely beneficial for students and significantly enhances their learning experience and results. I have been working as an educator for renowned online and traditional music production institutions for years and have noticed gaps in their courses that I want to fill!
This is why I decided to offer special One-On-One courses for a very limited number of students every month. I want to show you the depths of the mind of a professional mixing engineer so you can gain a stronger understanding of what has to be done in a mix, and how to do it right.
I've mixed thousands of songs in the last 15 years and still work as a professional, making great sounding records for artists from all around the world every day. To make this possible, I had to develop methods that allow me to mix quickly, to achieve great results fast!

So What Is The Experience Like?
The Masterclass is NOT about showing you how other people make great mixes out of professional productions. That's easy. In One-On-One classes we will work on YOUR songs, making them sound as great as possible while we improve your workflow, so you can keep making better music, faster.
We'll cover the basics and foundational principles of audio and sound on which all of music and mixing is built. These foundations are often overlooked in other courses, but they are exactly what you need to be able to do great work and come up with your own techniques by yourself.
Each course will be highly tailored to YOU, so we can focus on your needs and ensure that you get the most out of our time together. You will have 3 Online One-On-One classes with me, each 3-5 hours long so we can cover all the ground needed. We will work on at least 1 of YOUR songs and will dive deep into your methodology, tools and workflow. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can use one of my projects to demonstrate the techniques as well.

What Will I Learn?
Every course is unique and tailored to you, but at the same time we'll cover vital topics essential to achieving the highest quality in your mixes.
Core Principles
Most importantly, I will teach you the core principles of audio that will give you a skillset you can apply in any audio related situation. I've worked in nearly every field of audio, from sound design for films, on location recording, concerts, and corporate events, to of course recording, mixing and mastering music. I was able to do all these jobs because I have a strong foundation in the principles of sound. Once you understand these as well, you can take on any audio job you want.
Compression Basics & Advanced Applications
The most common issue I hear in mixes is the destructive use of compression. Compressors are not the magical tools that manufacturers tell us they are. They can enhance certain elements in the mix, but can also do tremendous damage. Learning how to use compression is one of the most important parts of this course!
Critical Listening & Planning
I want to teach you how to listen to raw mixes and how to assess what needs to be done before taking any action. To make a great sounding mix, you need a game plan! You'll learn how to identify common problems and how to fix them!
The Analogue Mindset
Plug-in manufacturers want to make you think that you need more and more special processors in your signal chain to achieve good results. I have to admit I fell for this trap as well. After all, plug-ins are super cool and they are super fun to use!
But then how is it possible that the most famous records in the world were (and some still are) mixed on consoles that only have ONE EQ and ONE COMPRESSOR per channel? Because in reality we don’t need most of those plug ins. The best engineers KNOW EXACTLY what has to be done in the mix and HOW to do it with only our two most basic tools. I started on analogue consoles as well, and I still mix with that mentality. I want to teach this to you. It will make your life a lot easier!
Professional & Appropriate Use Of EQ
Overusing EQ is the second most common issue I hear all the time. Together we will break down how to use EQ in simple, problem-solution steps. This alone will make your work infinitely better and faster!
Space, Echoes, And Reverbs
Reverbs have been shaping the sound of entire eras of music. Remember those huge 80s snares? Reverbs can create great character in a mix, but can also do a lot of damage if used badly. I will show you where and how reverb should be used to get a clear mix that gels and feels fully alive!
Mastering For CD & Online Streaming
The methods we use to consume music have changed significantly over the years. Our work has to adopt to this, making sure that our songs sound great on all platforms. I'll show you how to deliver your songs for CD printing, Spotify and Youtube, and even Vinyl!
Special Techniques
You will learn a lot of unique techniques that took me years of trying and studying to figure out by myself. I will teach you tricks that I learned in conversations with multi platinum and Grammy winning engineers. You will not learn these anywhere else!
Professional Mixing Templates
Templates are extremely important for fast mixing. There are tools and setups we use all the time, so it is a great starting point to have them ready from the very beginning!

You will also receive feedback on 5 of your mixes During and/or AFTER the course. This can be the same song, or 5 different ones, anything you want some notes on!
Written Materials & Cheat Sheets
You will also receive written material so you can always look up the methods and techniques discussed in the course. You can use these as cheat sheets until you develop your own habits and can work instinctively.

I Don’t Take Too Many Students At Once
I will only ever take on a few students per month so I can ensure that you get the attention you need to improve your skills and workflow. Also, I am still a full time mixer, so I have to have time to do my mixing work too!
Training Will Be Unique To You
Your course will be highly tailored to your needs. I will make sure to listen to your work and identify what has to be improved and together we will come up with an action plan that will help you achieve that.
You’ll Leave With A Finished Product
If you want, we can work on your songs during the course, so you can see and hear in real time how it is being mixed and ask questions about why certain actions were taken.
No Risk Payment
I will ask for a deposit of 50%, which is fully refundable before our 2nd class together. This means if you don’t like the course, you will receive your money back, no questions asked!
