How do I send you the files?

Please send me the files either via Wetransfer.com, or Wesendint.com if the files are above 2GB. I also appreciate a small note/PDF with any references, comments or ideas for the song/s. Also, please put the key signature and the BPM of the song in the note and attach a rough mix with all your FX that I can use as a guide.

How many revisions do you allow?

I do as many revisions as necessary, after all I want you to be 100% happy with the results. That said, I learned that setting a target at 4-5 revisions is ideal, to avoid over saturation and loss of perspective. If more revisions are necessary, then I will ask for us to take a break from the song and get back to it with fresh ears after a couple days.

How should I prepare my files?

Please export all tracks separately from bar 1 of the session all the way to the end, so that everything lines up perfectly when I import them into my mixing session.

Please remove all time/space effects such as reverbs and delays. Having these burned into the files can make mixing very difficult and limiting. On the other side, please don’t hesitate to commit to any creative effects, such as flangers, phasers, distortion etc. If you are unsure about something, then send me a wet and dry version of the track, or get in touch to clarify things.

Please edit the tracks to your best capability. This includes editing out noise, clicks, double breaths and all unwanted bits and bobs.

If multiple instruments/tracks Create one sound, then please send me a combined bounce of those and separate files as well.

If you can, please take care of all vocal tuning and timing corrections. I can do these myself at an extra cost if necessary.

What is your approach to mixing?

Very appropriate, I would say. I have a very good understanding of music and it’s various genres and I know how certain things should sound. My approach can go from gentle and transparent to ‘take no prisoners’, if the song demands it. My ultimate goal is to bring your song to it’s fullest potential and make sure it translates well across all possible playback systems and make it stand out from the crowd. But don’t worry - your music will always sound unique because you played it and you recorded it with certain gear and methods in a certain place. You will sound like the best you you can be.

What is your turnover time?

Turnover for a mix is usually 2-3 days, depending on workload and communication. I have returned finished mixes after 8 hours of receiving the files, but also had cases where a mix took 5 days because of many issues with tracks.

What DAW do you use?

I mix in Logic Pro X. To me it’s the fastest and most convenient DAW to use. That said, it truly doesn’t matter what you work in, from a technical perspective.

Do you do test mixes?

I offer test mixes in very rare cases. My showreel is a good demonstration of my skills and approach. If you have any doubt about working with me then please just get in touch and we can have a chat and find out if we are a good match.
